They explore a range of strategies for assessing children's mathematical and numerical understandings, and design and implement learning experiences, lessons and lesson sequences that progress children's mathematical thinking. Pre-service teachers will also consider the place of mathematical concepts and numeracy in relevant curriculum frameworks and how these impact teaching and learning practice.
